Privacy Policy
Gym Companion is built on a simple principle: your workout data is yours. We collect only what the app needs to function and never use it for advertising or sell it to third parties.
What we collect
Gym Companion stores the following data locally on your device:
- Exercises you create and workout sessions you log
- Sets, weights, and rep counts you enter
- App preferences and settings
If you grant permission, the app may read profile metrics from Apple Health (such as date of birth and biological sex) to improve calorie estimates. No health data is transmitted to our servers.
If you purchase Pro, Apple's StoreKit processes the transaction. We receive only a confirmation of your purchase status — no payment details or billing information are stored by us.
How your data is stored
All workout data is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. It does not leave your device unless you are a Pro subscriber with iCloud Sync enabled.
Pro subscribers: your data is synced via Apple CloudKit to your personal iCloud account. This sync is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We have no access to data stored in your iCloud account.
What we don't do
- We do not include any analytics or crash-reporting SDKs
- We do not serve advertising
- We do not sell or share your data with any third party
- We do not require you to create an account
- We do not track you across apps or websites
Third-party services
Gym Companion integrates with the following Apple frameworks, each governed by Apple's own privacy policy:
- Apple HealthKit — read-only access to profile metrics, with your explicit permission
- Apple CloudKit — Pro iCloud sync, stored in your personal iCloud account
- Apple StoreKit — in-app purchase processing for the Pro upgrade
We do not use any other third-party SDKs or services.
Your rights & data deletion
You are in full control of your data at all times:
- Delete local data — delete the app from your device to remove all locally stored data
- Delete iCloud data — go to Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Gym Companion, then delete the data
- Revoke Health access — go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Gym Companion
Children's privacy
Gym Companion is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
